Abstract

Tourism travel related to health preservation has become more appreciated worldwide. Researches to lately was paid little attention to the recent domestic health preservation travels of the Hungarian population. Aim of the present study to explore the changes in the Hungarian population’s health preservation motivated domestic travels in the years 2015-2019, regarding the development of health tourism. This study examines the changes in health preservation motivated domestic travel in Hungary by analysing the secondary sources of the Central Statistical Office. Based on the results, it was found that the characteristics of domestic travel related to health preservation have changed significantly in recent years. In the light of the research results, it is recommended to develop a new strategy for health-preserving tourism in order to effectively increase domestic travels related to health preservation.

Dr. Zoltán Szabó, Szent István University

Associate Professor at the Department of Economics and Methodology, Georgikon Campus, Szent István University, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Executive President of the Association of Hungarian Spa Towns, Head of the Scientific Research Institute of Spa Towns. He has spent 10 years in the competitive tourism sector, 5 years in secondary education, 10 years in municipal tourism administration and 10 years in higher education full-time, 10 years in part-time before that. During his teaching career, he has taught almost all areas of tourism management. His work is dominated by research on health promotion in relation to spa tourism. His decades of professional experience in tourism, his experience in higher education and his achievements in the scientific research of spa tourism, as well as his role as a science organizer and discipline developer in national and international academic life, are groundbreaking.
