Abstract
The present study provides an insight into the sporting activities of senior swimmers over fifty years of age who regularly participate in the Lake Balaton Crossing and its psychological background, with a special focus on motivation. The study sample consisted of 95 participants [...]
Aim: The research uses a qualitative method to explore the motives behind the Balaton crossing. This approach is novel and unusual, but provides much more information than the quantitative approach.
Results: The findings suggest that swimmers over 50 years of age have intrinsic motivation, including the search for challenge and adventure, the experience of pleasure, relaxation and flow, health maintenance and belonging to a group of people with similar interests.
