Main Article Content
Abstract
Introduction: The nutrition of competitors in the increasingly popular sport of triathlon requires a lot of attention, especially in the case of female competitors. Therefore, the focus of the research was on the macronutrient intake and distribution of female triathletes.
Aim: The aim of the research is to assess the nutrition characteristic of Hungarian female triathletes during the competition period without the help of dieticians.
Method: The research was carried out with a three-day food diary and by answering supplementary questions. The days to be recorded were before, after and the day of the race. Subjects were approached on social media. The evaluation was done with Nutricomp and Microsoft Office Excel 2007 program, according to age groups, qualifications and competition experience besides the overall evaluation.
Result: Regardless of which aspect is examined, the fact can be unanimously established that the distribution and intake of macronutrients of the competitors is not optimal, and their energy intake is insufficient.
Conclusions: The nutrition of Hungarian female triathletes typical of the competition period is unfavorable from every point of view. Therefore, it seems necessary to start their education related to sports nutrition with the involvement of a specialist.
