Vol. 16 No. 1-2 (2026): Journal of Recreation
Dear Reader,
It is one of summer's special gifts that it calls us to movement and to stillness at the same time. The longer days, the closeness of nature, time spent by the water, travels, and gatherings with family and friends all remind us that health is not merely a biological state, but also a matter of quality of life, connection, experience, and conscious presence.
During this season, recreation perhaps becomes even more tangible. A morning walk, a bicycle tour, a swim, a shared game, a quiet hour of reading, or a meaningful conversation can all contribute to refreshing us physically, restoring us emotionally, and opening us up mentally. Summer is not only a time of rest but also an opportunity: a chance to retune the rhythm of our everyday lives and to draw closer to ourselves, to one another, and to the environment that surrounds us.
As a scientific journal, it is an important part of our mission to present recreation not merely as a pleasant leisure activity, but as a defining field of health promotion, prevention, performance, mental wellbeing, and social connection. The perspective of recreation forms a bridge between scientific findings and the practice of everyday life: it helps turn research into usable knowledge, and experience into value that builds community.
I trust that the writings in this summer issue will offer inspiration to all those who, as professionals, researchers, educators, students, or interested readers, are seeking possibilities for a healthier, more active, and more conscious life. May this summer be for us not only a time of recharging, but also a season of mindful renewal: a time when we dare to slow down, to move, to connect, and to learn.
I wish all our dear Readers a fulfilling rest, a summer rich in experiences, and everyday life abundant in recreation!
