Abstract

A sedentary lifestyle has become increasingly common in recent decades. In parallel with this an increasing rate of diseases of civilization can be observed. For all these reasons, special attention must be paid to maintaining our health, predominantly to increase physical activity. Some of these take place in fitness gyms, where you can meet instructors and coaches (trainers) with different qualifications.

The aim of our research was to explore the health behaviors of coaches (trainers) employed by fitness gyms, find out how authentic the coaches (trainers) involved in the research think they are, and to assess their self-esteem for well-being, and investigate the relationships between these factors. Areas related to health behavior were examined with our own questionnaire, supplemented by the WHO 5-item well-being questionnaire.

86% of the 97 evaluable respondents were women. The average age was 36 years. The average BMI was 22.4. 77% of the respondents can take group fitness task based on their education, while 32% have a Personal Trainer degree (also). Despite our more negative expectations, the majority of respondents lead a healthy lifestyle, and it is not just the physical dimensions that are important for them in judging health.
