Human and animal research
§1. Foundation of Ethical Rules
(1) All submitted manuscripts reporting on research with human participants must comply with the ethical standards laid down in the Declaration of Helsinki of the World Medical Association, originally adopted in 1964 and later revised (for the Hungarian translation see the work of Andrea Domján – Péter Kakukk – Judit Sándor). Publications reporting such research results must include a statement indicating how the work complies with the current content of the Declaration of Helsinki, including the name and reference number of the ethics committee, and a confirmation that the research was conducted in accordance with the provisions of the cited declaration.
(2) If the submitted manuscript contains the results of research exempt from the applicable ethical approval requirement, the author(s) must provide detailed reasons in the manuscript, including the name of the ethical committee making the decision. Supporting documents for this statement must be made available to the editor.
(3) A manuscript may be rejected at any time if the editor determines that the underlying research did not comply with the applicable ethical standards. In particularly justified cases, the Editor-in-Chief of the journal may contact the relevant ethical committee.
(4) The Journal of Recreation does not accept manuscripts containing research results involving human participants that do not have the necessary ethical approval(s).
§2. Rules for participants in research
(1) Informed consent to participate in the study must be obtained for all manuscripts involving research with human participants. Consent must be stated in the manuscript.
(2) Parental consent is required for manuscripts reporting research involving minors under the age of 18.
(3) Consent must be obtained for all types of personally identifiable information (e.g. biometric data).
§3. Research Involving Animals
All studies reporting results from animal experiments must comply with the ethical guidelines published by the International Council for Laboratory Animal Science (ICLAS) and must be in accordance with the applicable national and international guidelines, as well as have the approval of the relevant ethical committee.
§4. Relationship with the Ethical Code of the Journal of Recreation
These ethical provisions shall be applied together with the provisions of the Ethical Code of the Journal of Recreation.
